Developing a Comprehensive Approach to Physical Education

This project aims to develop a complete way to teach based on all the different things that students have learned this term. As new physical education teachers, we must put together a teaching theory that fits the main ideas. The task stresses the importance of putting theory into practice, especially regarding fitness. Newcomers know physical education is very important for kids’ overall physical growth. We want to discuss how our teaching theory fits national and state standards, physical fitness, and basic parts of physical education. This paper makes us think about new findings and how we can use them meaningfully as physical education professionals.

Teaching Philosophy

A teacher’s decisions and lessons are based on their teaching mindset. It spells out the lesson’s goal and determines how the students will learn in physical education. The teacher’s mindset talks about how physical education helps students be healthy, follow rules, and be active for a lifetime. It helps make the gym a good place for everyone and teaches useful values outside gym time (Lee, 2019). In physical education, having a teaching theory is important for realizing that teachers are more than just people who teach; they help students grow in all areas of their lives.

Due to the many things I’ve learned this term, physical education is a dynamic way to keep the body and mind healthy. The goal is to build confidence, strength, and a lifelong respect for health and fitness, not just exercise skills. A learning space where everyone feels welcome and different students’ needs can be met through dynamic and interesting teaching methods. Character, teamwork, and a sincere desire to live a healthy life are emphasized by this attitude, which is in line with the overall goals and ideals of physical education. My main goal as a teacher is to give kids the physical education tools they need for success in school and life.

Physical Fitness

A person’s physical fitness is based on how well they can do daily tasks, their strength, and their ability to deal with illness, fatigue, and worry. It focuses on how the cardiovascular, muscle, and respiratory systems work together without problems. It helps you live healthier by controlling your inactive habits and making you fit. Physical fitness is a health approach that considers mental and physical aspects. Understanding this multidimensional definition is very important. Working out is an important part of everyday life (Lee, 2019). In addition to the benefits you get at the gym, it is important for your health and life. Stress can be lowered, and mood can be improved by working out regularly. It can also help avoid and treat type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and coronary heart disease. This knowledge helps us teach outside school by giving us more control over our bodies’ strength, endurance, and flexibility. Through teaching and learning, physical exercise builds healthy bodies, disciplined brains, and strong spirits, setting the stage for long-term health.

Essential Components of Physical Education

The semester’s core topics are what make physical education teaching work. Some of these are physical fitness, mental, social, and emotional development, and the general growth of the student. Some of these parts are physical fitness, improving motor skills, learning about health and wellness, and having a positive attitude toward physical action. Realizing how they work together to help each other is the first step toward a well-rounded education.

To make a curriculum that goes beyond understanding, it’s important to consider how these basic parts fit with physical education’s bigger goals. Physical education aims to make people love exercise for a lifetime, improve health, and teach useful skills for everyday life. To reach these goals, cognitive, social, mental, and physical abilities are all helped by important factors. Physical education that focuses on the whole person helps kids live healthy, active, and happy lives. When you put these important things together, you can make a dynamic, welcoming learning space that breaks down barriers and sets students up for success.

National and State Physical Education Standards

Physical education programs all over the country have to meet strict requirements. These standards make sure that teachers are responsible. These rules help kids learn what to do and how to do it in physical education. They back up national rules. The 2020 Physical Education Learning Standards may help New York kids do well. Because of these rules, schools must teach more than just physical skills (New York State Education Department, n.d.). They also have to teach health, social and emotional development, and fitness for life. As PE teachers, we know how important these parts are for a full, well-thought-out program that meets each child’s needs and sets them up for a healthy, active future.

Social Justice in Physical Education

To make school fair and easy to get to, physical education and social justice look at race, gender, poverty, and ability. Society and the economy affect physical education. We need to back social justice. To teach social justice, ensure everyone can attend your classes, be flexible with how people learn, and encourage participation. When learning physical skills, all students need to feel valued and in charge, no matter who they are or what they can do (What Is CSPAP?- Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program, n.d.). I promise to question and eliminate structural barriers in physical education that get in the way of variety, fairness, and inclusion. Making sure that all kids can do well in school is one way that physical education changes and empowers society.

School-Based Physical Activity Promotion

School-wide physical exercise is encouraged by the Comprehensive School Physical Exercise Program (CSPAP). Through a CSPAP, physical education, school-based physical activity, staff participation, and family and community engagement work together to ensure all students get the recommended 60 minutes of daily physical activity. A CSPAP is more than just physical education because it gives kids various opportunities for moderate to vigorous physical exercise (Lee, 2019). When this whole technique is used in school, it supports the immediate health benefits of regular physical exercise and the formation of habits and skills that will last a lifetime. When it comes to school-based physical exercise programs, a CSPAP that is well-run makes kids healthier. Students are healthier, do better in school, develop better social skills, and feel better overall when physical activity is a part of school life, from classes to extracurriculars. This shows that these kinds of programs positively affect students’ development.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this essay has looked at what physical fitness is, why it’s important, and the most important parts of physical education, following national and state standards, social justice principles, and promoting physical exercise in schools. Because of this question, physical education is an important part of student growth. These topics have changed how we teach and made us realize how important it is for teachers to help students grow physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally. To those who want to become physical education teachers, diversity, standards, and encouraging physical exercise are important ways to raise a generation that values and sticks to a healthy lifestyle. This trip shows that good physical education can help kids build healthy bodies and strong brains, which is good for their overall growth.
