The Future of Artificial Intelligence Systems in Acquisition and Fulfillment Process

Most organizations and departments heavily depend on information and data for normal operations. Similarly, the majority of government institutions depend on information too. As a result, these institutions spend enormous financial resources feeding their system with information. Furthermore, the process entails a repetitive process that consumes a majority of employees and institutional time. Office automation has been a key aspect in several departments with the recent technological advancement. Most firms have capitalized on technological advancement (Shabbir & Anwer, 2018). However, the development of AI technology will greatly impact the acquisition and fulfillment process in the future. The technology will change almost every aspect starting from the cost to job effectiveness. The following essay will discuss how Artificial Intelligence will change the acquisition and fulfillment process in the future.

According to Eggers & Viechnicki (2017), AI will save a hundred working hours among government employees. Most government departments will soon automate the current condition of repetitive work and time-consuming tasks. As a result, the technology will save more time which can be transformed into other useful elements. The research estimates the possibility of freeing up to 37 billion hours annually due to incorporating AI systems in the government process. As a result, this will save both governments and the private sector enough money and time. However, the named approximation will only result if such institutions invest heavily in AI technologies.

Furthermore, to institutions and managements that will be faced with limited resources, the technology has the possibility of utilizing limited resources to maximize outputs. O the other hand, due to the increased effectiveness of AI compared to human labor, the technology will pose a major threat to many employees. As a result, the potentially suitable spots for the technology include repetitive tasks and routine decision processes. Besides, institutions will leverage the technology into performing large volume work like data entry and information sharing (Datta, 2017). The technology will aid workers with difficult and time-consuming tasks. Thus, the technology will improve the efficiency of most institutions and increase the total work output. Combining human labor and Artificial Intelligence technology will result in faster and better outcomes. Hence, most institutions will require training their employees to incorporate the technology into their daily routine at work.

Although the article has been essential in demonstrating future changes in acquisition and fulfillment due to the adoption of AI, the article has not mentioned any of the negative sides of the technology. The author has not addressed issues like the initial cost of implementing the program to the organizations and the cons of the system. First, AI will be expensive for a majority of the average and small-scale organizations. Furthermore, the article has not mentioned issues relating to the operational cost of the system. According to Shabbir & Anwer (2018), AI is very costly to operate. Besides, relying on the system so much can pose challenges when the system breaks down. The author did not also address the issue of cybersecurity which is a major threat to technology. Th system can facilitate hacking leading to loss of information and other valuable data.

Conclusively, despite the several limitations of the technology, Artificial Intelligence remains one of the effective technologies that will soon change the future of a firm’s operations. The system will not only change acquisition and fulfillment, but it will also change other elements such as supply chain management, decision making, and other business operations.
