Insights on American Existence

Solving The Problems
An alarming fact from the Pew Research Center tells us that 78% of Americans believe that the lack of regard and consideration in the public discourse is a significant problem, which is one of the signals that we need to address this problem immediately (Pew Research Center, pg. 8). To eradicate the deep-rooted issues, there should be a comprehensive method that starts with education and enlightenment. This approach allows people to develop the ability to sense the feelings of others and have compassion towards them from the very early stages. Education should be the primary tool for learning the histories and experiences of marginalized groups as well as promoting the understanding of diversity and the meaning of inclusivity in this process. This awareness lies as a backbone that enables various prejudices to be dismantled, which is the first step towards creating a more socially responsive society.
Education is not the only action item in social mindfulness; policy reform combined with community involvement is also significant. These legislative measures are critical to correct structural inequalities like criminal justice system reform, give equal opportunity for healthcare and education, and protect voting rights. Simultaneously, local efforts that encourage time for dialogue, consideration, and cooperation can create bonds between communities. These efforts need to be accompanied by social awareness at the individual and the collective levels, as this is crucial in creating a just society because of the significance of choices and actions that shape it.

Through our actions, we tackle the underlying causes of social problems and create the foundation for a world where there is justice and kindness.
