The checklist was completed for Kyle Blane on 27th February 2023 to assess development in areas including emotion/gaze, communication, gestures, sounds, words, understanding, and object use. The CSBS DP manual assists in the determination of a child’s delays in language and development. Parents or caregivers for the target child bring out concerns in cases where they suspect delayed milestones. The checklist later undergoes scrutinization by a pediatrician to evaluate and determine how to assist the infant in achieving the desired milestones.
Kyle’s social composite score is low, which shows imitations or impairments regarding social skills and emotional intelligence. The results may differ, and many factors could also interfere with this. Kyle might suffer due to spending more time on screens and, therefore, less time engaging in face-to-face communication, which is detrimental to his social development. Human cues and social communication norms are not alien to them, and this helps them relate with others ( Byram, Michael, 2020).
Moreover, as emotional perception is involved in the process, the lack of recognizing humor in others may be linked to immature neural pathways for affect recognition rather than core social deficiencies. The score is a reason for monitoring and intervention should there be a need. Still, it is not a situation where the student must be automatically classified as a special needs case. Kyle might be having difficulties that are overcome by more help from the family, which could be in the form of modeling and support rather than intrinsic to his personality. The syllable rate, utterances, and sounds may fall behind due to hearing loss, malfunction of tongue muscles, or a defect in the cerebral cortex that deals with speech development ( Freed, Donald,2023). Kyle is only half a year old, and we cannot be sure yet about the diagnosis. Under the circumstances where an outcome is obtained, it is recommended to pay special attention to Kyle and to fill out the checklist again after three months to determine whether further evaluation or early intervention services are needed.
The assessment and monitoring that we will be doing throughout this process will be of high importance for the improvement and development of infants’ and toddlers’ growth that comes in full swing (Pangrazi et al.,2019). Regular, formalized evaluation gives caregivers a basis for assessment, early detection of gaps, and those areas that need specific intervention.
For instance, the mother can use Kyle’s language as a diagnostic tool to determine whether his verbal skills match the milestones or if he needs additional modeling and practice. On the same side, a physical sign shows the direction of movement. This awareness and the assessment of the mother is a necessary step that gives invaluable insight and helps the mother tune into Kyle’s developmental stages accurately and fine-tune the caregiving and stimulation that are so important during this period of rapid change. Conducting the periodic assessment supplies parents with a structure to track their achievements and their weakest points.
Conclusion
In summary, because of some of the setbacks he has encountered in his development, he is still on track because he can try things at his own pace. In addition, he shows a bright smile when he is gazing at his mother. The surroundings the infant finds itself in are another factor that plays a significant role in the infant’s development because all the factors for growth are not constant. To meet the required milestones, the mother should do her best to limit screen time and encourage him to play with children around his age. The mother then would start spending some time with Kyle and bring the concept of monolingualism to the table to avoid misunderstandings and promote clarity at the same time.
