Sport is an essential aspect of learning institutions. Schools and colleges expose their students to sporting activities to be physically and mentally active. For this to occur, the institutions will need someone who can stand in the gap to give direction on what should be done in every department involved with the sporting activities. Athletic administrators are critical individuals in every institution. They are responsible for the activities in every institution and can even be accountable to the national teams as well. They can organize conferences that can implement sporty activities that will bring together the coaches and other staff in the same field. They are also responsible for making budgets and financial requirements of the organization and fundraising for the institution in sports.
The career pathway of an athletic administrator is not as easy as most people think. Being an administrator, one should be excellent at working under pressure and stress. The administrators have vast roles and responsibilities as the scope of their work depends on the size of the institution they are working for (Williams et al., 1). Personally am looking forward to a career that can be smooth and at the same time heavy but manageable. It will give me a platform that I can use to showcase the skills that I have learned at schools hence managing to succeed. Management of other staff working under me is vital and the financial desk. I should be in a position to maintain ethics and other moral obligations that can make other people working around me feel very much comfortable (Williams et al., 1). The sporting equipment for the students, especially in the schools, should be up to stands and modern. Marketing and aspects of public relations are critical in this role as they will enable my leadership to have a transparent face when it comes to financial matters in the department of sports.
The educational needs for an athletic administrator include the following: The administrators should have at least a bachelor’s degree that will enable them to be in a good position for the management (Williams et al., 1). A master’s degree can be an added advantage as it will determine various research methods that will affect the sports department. They will also understand the quantitative and qualitative results they are expecting from the goals they have put in place (Casa, 1029). Such goals can be in terms of management, developments, and areas of improvement in their general performance. They can be able to set realistic goals and be reached depending on the staff’s abilities in the system.
The salary scale for the job is not fixed in every institution. It varies depending on the business terms or the duties and responsibilities given to the employee. According to the bureau of labor, an administrator can be paid an average of $94340 per year (Casa, 1029). But in some cases, some administrators can work for more than one million.
In summary, young people looking for careers to venture into can also pick up the sports world. The money involved in the job is good enough and can sustain life more than other careers. All jobs are good, but it takes a lot of effort to get to one like being a sports administrator; hence they still need to work hard to achieve it.
