Communication Sel Analysis

Without communication, there would be no chance and connection in my private or business life. Everyday life depends on communication for our understanding of morality, a topic that gives me much weight. Four categories are based on many kinds of contact with some essential components. They can be written, nonverbal or oral, spoken and heard, and all have a significance on how one communicates and makes meaning of its message. Verbal communication involves speaking, but there is more to it, like tone, pitch, and pace. In this context, speech is regarded as the most critical component in expressing thoughts, feelings, and desires out of everything mentioned above.

Nonverbal communication is another form of communication that involves cues such as posture, eye contact, gestures, facial expressions, and a tone of voice, which can indicate more hidden information and emotions than spoken words. Though we may deem this unimportant, written communication is essential because it helps us create permanent and definite relationships (Larsen et al.,2021). Some examples of written communication include writing a letter, an email, or even posting it on social networks. Moreover, listening is another part of our everyday lives that most people overlook. This is not only about expressing something in a language but also listening to it, comprehending it, answering it, and finally remembering it.

My own experience confirmed that successful communication is a matter of cultural awareness and recognition. This, in turn, opens up our perspective of the world by providing more people and jobs. This feature allows us to express what we want and that of our partners. Another reason would be that communication involves a sense of respect, of knowing or understanding the other person; feelings of trust and confidence are also connected with communication. In communication, intima and professionals share experiences and feelings and collaborate cohere. More importantly, many problems stem from poor communication; thus, good communication skills, such as listening and understanding, are required.

A more profound understanding of interpersonal communication may be gained by exploring the theoretical aspects of communication. The focus of listening theories is on how listening is an active activity involving engagement rather than just being passive (Berger & Roloff,2019). The way that personal prejudices and experiences affect how messages are interpreted is examined by perception theories. Furthermore, verbal and nonverbal communication theories examine how these two aspects interact to improve our relationships.

My self-concept, self-esteem, and self-monitoring have always influenced daily interactions with people at work and home. Having high self-esteem always has been making me not give a damn about what people said about me from the time when I was very young. Moreover, I have never cared about how others feel about me because I have always aimed to work hard to achieve my goals. The unique thing about me is the idea of myself: I am a strong, independent woman who is always eager to lend a hand. Furthermore, my straightforward demeanour gives the impression that am mean. My grandmother recently advised me to refrain from speaking if I could not be truthful. I do not like it when people interpret my generosity as weak. I have been a fighter throughout my life, and I refuse to let people walk over me because I perceive them as liars and thieves. Sometimes, I have to self-monitor when communicating with others since we come from diverse cultures (Solomon & Theiss,2023). Sometimes, my friends call me TT, which sometimes upsets the workplace co-workers because it means a private part of their culture. In this case, it did not disturb me, but due to cultural reasons, it disturbed someone else. In addition, it did not mess with my self-esteem because I had always been mindful of my surroundings when communicating with others, which is self-monitoring. This idea of self-monitoring always helps me improve my relationships with others by helping me adapt my behavior and communication style to different situations and people. By being aware of how I come across to others, I can also avoid misunderstandings, conflicts, and negative impressions. For Instance, I had a friend who could ask me a question about her personal life, and when I told the truth, she could not talk to me for a week. I almost lost a great friend by not being mindful of others with my communication and not self-monitoring. She was not ready for the truth, so I had to go back and apologize for wronging her.

Additionally, as an adult, I have never been concerned about other people’s opinions of me, as I have always been focused on achieving my goals. This originate from my cultural background, where I was raised in a middle-class Black family where hard work was just a fundamental value. Both of my parents were very hardworking and diligent members of the society. The state government employed my mother while my father was a merchant seaman. Whenever my father returned from a trip, he would bring me baby dolls, but my parents would only allow me to play with them once my room was clean and my homework was finished.
